Child Car Safety Laws in Nevada

How To Buy a Child Safety Seat

Nevada state law requires that children under age 6 and 60 pounds ride in a federally approved car seat or booster seat that is appropriate for the child’s age and weight. The car seat or booster must be installed and used according to manufacturer’s instructions. All other passengers and drivers must wear a seat belt. If the kids are less than 4’9” tall, they need to ride in a booster seat.

Also, safety belts are made to protect an adult who is at least 4’9” tall.  Kids who have outgrown their toddler seat are still not tall enough for the belt to lay on the strong parts of their body, such as hip bones, rather than vulnerable parts like their stomach.  If they are less than 4’9” tall, put them in a booster seat.
